A ceilidh is an absolute blast and will be a highlight of our wedding celebration! Pronounced “kay-lee,” it’s a lively Scottish/Irish folk dance gathering that guarantees a night filled with joyous celebration and communal dancing. Live music, featuring fiddles and accordions, sets the perfect backdrop as a friendly caller guides us through the steps of each dance. The best part? No dance experience is needed – it’s all about having fun and creating unforgettable moments with our loved ones. The ceilidh embodies inclusivity, laughter, and a sense of togetherness.
For newcomers, here is a short video performance of a ceilidh dance, the Dashing White Sergeant. There are various dances, all with their unique rythms and moves. There will be a caller which will guide you through each and every step, so no need to study them beforehand. If you wish to come prepared though, you are free to practice ahead of time!
